Why we’re building it
Reliability practices need to change with the software.
JP knows this problem first-hand from SRE work on large, distributed systems. Together, we found that good OpenTelemetry instrumentation was not enough to keep reliability practices in step with the software.
New endpoints can appear without meaningful SLO coverage, while existing measurements stop matching how services behave. We call this Reliability Drift. When distributed teams maintain several large systems, these gaps make outages harder to detect and diagnose.
We started GreenSlope to keep SLO coverage in step as services change and to give responders enough context to find the likely cause sooner.
